Mr. Lavaia represents clients in a broad range of industries. 

Mr. Lavaia has expertise in corporate matters, real estate, commercial leasing, hospitality and food and beverage, representing hotels and restaurants throughout the five boroughs of New York City and beyond. In addition, Mr. Lavaia counsel clients in the areas of intellectual property, copyright and trademark, media and technology, and licensing for film, television, music and fashion.

Mr. Lavaia's prior skills include litigation and courtroom experience, which he uses in counseling his clients. He has prosecuted and defended both state and federal cases involving intellectual property, breach of contract, commercial transactions, real estate, corporate disputes and invasion of privacy.

Mr. Lavaia is active in local politics. He served as the Treasurer of Campaign Finance for Friends of Eric Gioia 2005, where he managed the 2005 re-election campaign for New York City Council Member Eric Gioia.

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Lavaia spent several years working in the entertainment industry as an independent film producer, together with performed lighting, scenic and staging work for Broadway theater and television.
