Michael Zukerman

Mr. Zukerman practices real estate law, concentrating in the areas of real estate secured lending, from both the lender and the borrower side, and real estate development and acquisitions. He has experience in private offerings of securities with emphasis on real estate.
His experience includes representing borrowers and lenders in all phases of new development projects, existing projects, historic rehabilitation, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, EB-5 offerings, financings and refinancings with all types of lenders (banks and private funds, Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) and residential senior housing offerings with tax exempt bonds. He is involved in many transactions representing equity investors, preferred equity investors and mezzanine investors.Mr. Zukerman has extensive experience in distressed real estate, including loan workouts, foreclosures and the ultimate disposition of real estate collateral acquired by lenders.
He has a national real estate practice including transactions in, among other states, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Texas, California, Georgia, South Carolina, Missouri, Colorado, and Arizona.
Mr. Zukerman taught a graduate level course, "Development Process," at the NYU Shack Real Estate Institute for 10 years. Mr. Zukerman taught a CLE Course at the Practising Law Institute on historic tax credits and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. He lectured at the Crittenden National Conference for over 10 years and at many other conferences. He has published many articles that have appeared in trade publications and real estate publications on various topics, including historic tax credits, new market tax credits, low income housing tax credits, and finance with emphasis on tax exempt bonds.
Mr. Zukerman is also Chief Executive Officer of Whitestone Realty Capital, a real estate development company and mortgage finance business.
