Ms. Sklaren has more than 35 years of litigation experience, including trials, mediation, arbitration, and voluminous motion and appellate practice, and has handled appeals to the New York State Court of Appeals. She focuses on family law, trusts and estates and general litigation.

Ms. Sklaren was part of the team that wrote the winning briefs on behalf of the child, in the landmark same-sex family law decision Matter of Brooke S.B. v. Elizabeth A.C. C., 28 N.Y. 3d 1 (2016), which overturned twenty-five years of precedent defining who is a "parent" under New York's Domestic Relations Law. She was Of Counsel to Nina Rumbold, Esq., in the case In re Marie-Irene D., 153 A.D. 3d 1203 (1st Dep’t 2017), which held for the first time in New York State that the presumption of legitimacy applied to a child born into a same-sex marriage. She represented the administrators of an estate in multiple proceedings in Surrogate Court arising out of the mishandling of the multi-million dollar estate by a prior fiduciary and a wrongful death case against the decedent’s son, who was found not responsible for the decedent’s death by reason of insanity. She has represented a wide variety of clients in general litigation matters, and has been lead defense and liaison counsel for more than 75 individuals, in a multi-district securities fraud action in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, where she obtained dismissal of the case against all defendants.
