03/05/2020Partner Kimberly Lau and counsel James Figliozzi recently achieved an excellent result for a former graduate student in his lawsuit against Columbia University. In a decision dated February 24, 2020, the Southern District of New York denied Columbia’s Motion to Dismiss the student’s Title IX erroneous outcome cause of action. In doing so, the Court determined that the Complaint adequately pleaded the existence of gender bias in Columbia’s disciplinary process and cast articulable doubt upon the accuracy of Columbia’s disciplinary determinations.
