Peter Figdor Secures Restaurant Lease in Flamingo Crossings Town Center, a New Disney Mixed-Use Property in Orlando, Florida

01/04/2021
Counsel Peter Figdor recently secured a 10 1/2-year lease with a five-year renewal for client BBQ Sensations, LLC, which will operate Gyu-Kaku, a Japanese barbeque restaurant, at Disney’s widely heralded new mixed-use development in Orlando, Florida, the Flamingo Crossings Town Center.

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ will be in good company as part of the 200,000 sq. ft. retail and dining complex, joined by many well-known tenant brands, which include: Target (the primary anchor), PDQ, Five Below, a UPS store, Five Guys, Ben & Jerry’s, Wendy’s, Domino’s and Dunkin’, among many others.

Mr. Figdor assisted BBQ Sensations in negotiating a deferment of the commencement date for the 5,000 sq. ft. lease until January 2021 after pandemic-related issues made it unreasonable to begin the lease in 2020.

The president and CEO of BBQ Sensations, LLC, DBA Gya-Kaku, Yutaro Iwamura, was formerly a senior executive at Mitsukushi USA, Inc., which operated the Japan Pavilion, part of the World Showcase, within the Epcot Center at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Upon completion of the successful negotiation of this lease, Mr. Iwamura complimented Mr. Figdor for his dedication, guidance and support.
