Sarah A. Steckler to Moderate Panel on Hospital Discharge: Your Rights, Realistic Expectations

02/09/2026
Sarah A. Steckler, Chair of the Elder Law and Special Needs Planning Law Group and partner in the Trusts and Estates Group, will moderate a free webinar panel on February 18, 2026 at 10 a.m. ET a service of the Senior Law Day Collaborative, of which she serves as a Co-Chair.

Christine Consiglio-Greco, DSW, LCSW, Director, Care Management at White Plains Hospital and Karen Ronan, RN, Geriatric Care Manager and former Case Manager at NYU Hospital, will present on "Hospital Discharge: Your Rights, Realistic Expectations."

The panelists will discuss how to utilize your Care Manager to ensure a safe hospital discharge, what Medicare defines as a safe discharge, Medicare rights as a patient, and the appeal process. They will also discuss the importance of proactive planning for hospital stays, the roles of hospital staff and loved ones, the use of patient-hired resources, and strategies for both short- and long-term care and recovery after hospitalization.

This is a topic that affects families of all ages, and particularly those commonly characterized as the "sandwich" generation -- adults who are caring for children as well as their aging parents.
