Hon. Jane Pearl (Ret.) Authors Article on Forensic Evaluations for Association of Family and Conciliation Courts-New York Chapter

Hon. Jane Pearl (Ret.), a partner in our Matrimonial and Family Law Group, authored an article for the New York Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts focused on how ensuring the integrity and competence of the forensic evaluation process, and its generated report, may optimally begin at a conference in supreme or family court. 

According to an analysis by Daniel O'Leary, Ph.D., she suggests that issue-focused targeted forensic evaluations can be more efficient, less costly, and can address very specific issues of any case, e.g. parent-child relationship, mental health of one or both parents, substance abuse, etc. The Pearl article provides an avenue to address some of the criticisms voiced about forensic evaluations by Judge Carol MacKenzie (Ret.) and the advantages of forensic evaluations noted by Judge Matthew Cooper (Ret.) in the Fall 2024 issue of this newsletter.
